Meet Ember, a rich red Highland calf with one of the plushest coats you'll ever see. Her dense, teddy-bear fluff covers her from fuzzy ears to sturdy little hooves, and her deep auburn color glows copper in the sunlight. Ember is calm, curious, and confident. She's the kind of calf who walks right up to see what you're doing. She's well-built, with straight legs, a solid frame, and the classic broad Highland face with soft, expressive eyes. She's a great fit for a hobby farm, a starter breeding program, or anyone who wants a gentle, eye-catching addition to their herd. Highlands are hardy, easy keepers that do well in tough weather and need minimal fuss, and Ember shows all the signs of growing into a beautiful cow.

Documentation you should expect

Depending on the animal and where it's going, a Highland cattle sale typically involves some combination of the following. Ask your seller which ones apply to your purchase.

  • Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI), also called a health certificate, issued by an accredited veterinarian for animals crossing state lines.
  • Registry transfer paperwork for the animal's registry (AHCA, HHCA, or Highland Cattle Society), where applicable.
  • A signed bill of sale documenting the animal, agreed price, and terms.
  • State brand inspection certificate, where the animal's home state requires one before sale or transport.
  • For international imports only: an import permit and entry health certificate. Most domestic sales do not require this.
